Meet Simone Goglia
Ciao!
The wedding comes before the photographs. That is why I work quietly, without interrupting what you are living: so you can give your attention to the people, the hugs, the laughter, and everything that makes that day yours.

I believe the best moments do not need to be staged. They only need to be lived.
ABOUT ME
I am Simone Goglia,
wedding photographer in Italy
Since 2006 I have photographed more than 500 weddings, working with couples who want two things: beautiful photographs and a wedding they actually get to live.
I am based near Milan, in northern Italy, and I photograph most often around Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Milan and Varese. Every year I also travel for weddings all over the country.
Many of the couples I work with come to Italy from abroad, or grew up here and now live somewhere else and come back to get married. Everything happens in English, and everything is put in writing.
In all these years I have learned that people come before images. So before telling you how I work, it seems right to tell you something about me.
IN SHORT
- More than 500 weddings photographed since 2006
- One wedding a day: I will be the one photographing yours, in person
- Documentary weddings across Italy, from the northern lakes to the coast
- English speaking, used to planning a wedding day from a distance
- Awarded by This Is Reportage, Fearless Photographers, Masters of Wedding Photography, ISPWP and ANFM
The turning point
There was a moment that changed the way I see a wedding.
When I got married, I thought the most important photographs would be the couple portraits. The ones taken calmly. The ones I pictured as the wallpaper on my phone.
Then time passed. And I realised the photograph I kept going back to was a different one. It was a hug with my father. It had not been set up. It was not perfect. It had simply happened.
Every year that goes by, that photograph means something else. Because photographs do not change. We change. The people beside us change. Relationships change.
And that is probably where I understood what kind of photographer I wanted to be.

My approach

Today I look at a wedding differently.
When I photograph a wedding I am not only looking for a beautiful image. I am watching people. Relationships. Small gestures. Looks that usually go unnoticed. I observe a lot and step in very little.
The wedding comes before the photographs.
I like to think that, years from now, a photograph can take you back to a feeling you had forgotten. Not because it was perfect. But because it held something that really mattered.
That is why I look for photographs that are beautiful, and that with time can tell you something more as well. Light, composition and attention to detail are as much a part of how I work as the documentary approach.
Couple portraits follow the same idea. Twenty or thirty minutes are enough, with a little direction only where it helps, for images that are natural and elegant. The rest of the time you spend where it makes sense to spend it: with the people you invited.
Away from work
I am Sveva’s dad.
I like travelling without a rigid plan, live music and film photography. People make me curious. I think that is one of the most important qualities for anyone who photographs weddings.
Before I pick up a camera I would rather watch. Listen. Understand who is in front of me. It is a habit I keep outside work too, and it probably shapes the way I photograph more than any technical choice.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to…
Photograph more than 500 weddings, meet couples from all over Italy and from abroad, and step, even for a single day, into the stories of very different families.
My work has been recognised internationally by This Is Reportage, Fearless Photographers, Masters of Wedding Photography, ISPWP and ANFM.
The recognition I care about most is first place in Italy in the This Is Reportage Story Award. It does not reward a single photograph, but the ability to tell a whole wedding through a sequence of only 20 images. Telling a day through a series of photographs is the part of this work I love most.
Over the years I have been listed several times in the Italian Top 10 of This Is Reportage and, in 2024, in the Top 40 worldwide.
You were probably not looking only for a wedding photographer.
You were looking for someone who would put you at ease. Someone who shares the way you want to live this day and can tell its story quietly, with photographs that are natural, elegant and carefully made.
If that sounds like you, tell me something about yourselves: the date, the place you have chosen, the people who will have a special part in that day. Wherever in the world you are writing from.
If we see a wedding the same way, we will probably notice it long before we start talking about photography.
